Sony is about to release the PlayStation Plus Extra games for June 2024. The ten new PS Plus Extra games include the likes of Monster Hunter Rise and Football Manager 2024, as well as LEGO Hobbit and Anno 1800. The next batch of PS Plus Extra releases have a June 18 launch date and an estimated 11am BST UK release time. However, despite Sony making an additional ten PS4 and PS5 games available on PS Plus Extra, it could be argued that the service will get a massive downgrade. That’s because more than a dozen games are leaving the service on June 18, including Rockstar’s open-world masterpiece GTA 5 and Grand Theft Auto Online. (It’s also worth remembering that EA Sports FC 24 is leaving the PS Plus Essentials line-up on June 18.)
Indeed, if you haven’t finished the Grand Theft Auto 5 campaign, then you have a late night ahead if you want to get it finished.
Likewise, there’s no more Grand Theft Auto Online unless you’re willing to shell out for the full version from the PlayStation Store.
It’s a shame, because GTA 5 is definitely one of the biggest blockbusters available on PS Plus Extra, and one of the few wins Sony has over Microsoft’s Game Pass subscription.
Other big games leaving PS Plus Extra on June 18 include SpongeBob SquarePants Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated, Brothers A Tale of Two Sons, Slime Rancher and MotoGP 23.
That’s on top of Telling Lies, Monster Jam Steel Titans, Unturned, DC League of Super-Pets The Adventures of Krypto and Ace, Dodgeball Academia, The Talos Principle, The Wild at Heart, Indivisible and Baja Edge of Control.
Of course, it’s not all bad news, because there are some decent games joining the line-up, including Monster Hunter Rise.
Originally released for Nintendo Switch, the Monster Hunter release earned an impressive 88% average review score on Metacritic.
Other games joining PS Plus Extra include Far Cry 4, Football Manager 2024, Crusader Kings 3, Anno 1800, Monster Energy Supercross – The Official Videogame 6, After Us, Police Simulator, LEGO: The Hobbit and LEGO Incredibles.
Premium subscribers can also play the likes of Kayak VR, LEGO Star Wars 2, Ghosthunter and Daxter.
It’s nice to see Sony continue to make PSVR 2 games available on PS Plus Premium, which previously only featured retro games.
Kayak VR is an absolutely stunning virtual reality release, and one of the more relaxing games on the system.
