Victoria’s COVID cases today: Another 23 people have died with the virus as hospitals continue to fill


Another 23 people have died with COVID-19 in Victoria as the health system fights the highest hospitalisation rate since the pandemic began.

The state recorded a further 25,526 new cases on Saturday, including 12,857 from rapid antigen tests and 12,669 from PCR tests.

With 227,105 active cases across the state, the number of patients battling the virus in hospital across the state is placing strain on the public health sector.

There are currently 1054 people in Victorian hospitals with COVID-19, up from 976 on Friday, including 115 in intensive care. Thirty of those are on a ventilator.
