University of Santo Tomas made quick work of Ateneo, 25-15, 26-24, 26-24, on Saturday in the UAAP Season 87 women’s volleyball tournament, staying firmly in the Final Four picture.

The Golden Tigresses improved to 7-4 and stayed in the hunt for a twice-to-beat bonus as well, bouncing back from a three-game slide with back-to-back wins.

“We’re just taking it one game at a time,” said Cassie Carballo, who tallied five points, two blocks, and 17 excellent sets. “We’re grateful to be back in the win column.”

UST, last season’s runner-up, regained its footing after losses to NU, FEU, and La Salle. But with three games left, Carballo knows there’s more work to do.

“We still have lapses, and we haven’t shown everything yet. Hopefully, we can bring the good habits from this game to the next ones,” she said.
