President Trump’s first name is, of course, Donald, but Karen seemed more appropriate based on his angry social media post on Monday.
Trump was set to have a conference call with faith leaders from around the country, but it didn’t go to plan, according to a post on his Truth Social platform.
“I’m doing a major Conference Call with Faith Leaders from all over the Country, and AT&T is totally unable to make their equipment work properly,” the president complained, adding that “this is the second time it’s happened.”
Trump then essentially asked to speak to the manager.
“If the Boss of AT&T, whoever that may be, could get involved — It would be good. There are tens of thousands of people on the line!” he wrote.
For the record, John Stankey is the “Boss of AT&T,” although his title is actually chairman and CEO.
Trump continued griping in a follow-up post, writing that “AT&T ought to get its act together,” and that “we may have to reschedule the call, but we’ll use another carrier the next time. AT&T obviously doesn’t know what they’re doing!”
Although Stankey didn’t respond personally to Trump’s tirade, AT&T did post on X, formerly Twitter, that it has “reached out to the White House and are working to quickly understand and assess the situation.”
Meanwhile, people on social media had thoughts about the president’s outburst, which comes weeks after he announced a new venture called “Trump Mobile.”
One person pointed out that Stankey shouldn’t feel too bad that Trump didn’t know his name, since the president recently referred to Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba as “Mr. Japan.”
Since Trump’s conference call was with faith leaders, some people joked that it was all a part of the great Almighty’s plan.
