Tradie shares his jaw-dropping revenge on rude client using Apple AirTag in new Reddit post
A tradie has revealed how he took revenge against an “extremely rude” customer using his Apple AirTag device.
The plasterer said he committed the act after the client was “just nasty” to him and his colleagues as they worked. He also said he overheard the man using shocking slurs in conversation.
As payback, the tradie – who’s believed to be from the US – decided to leave a spare Apple AirTag he had with him inside the wall he was repairing.
In his post, the man said he was planning to infuriate the customer with random beeping sounds in the months to come.
“An AirTag is a tracker that allows you to ping whatever it’s attached to. I use it for my keys. I had an extra, until just a few weeks ago,” he explained.
“I drywall (plaster) for my cousin’s company. It’s a side gig.
“We had customers who had a small job for us. They were extremely rude to us throughout the job. Just nasty.
“Told us we were taking too long only an hour into the job. Complained that we’re wasting their time because we don’t paint for free.
“Told us a friend of a friend could’ve done a better job for cheaper. This was all before we even had the wall taped up.”
‘Funny to me’
The tradie went on to outline the disturbing slurs he heard the customer use, which are too confronting to print.
“He wasn’t talking to or about us during this time, I just overheard him because he was in the other room yelling about something over the phone,” he said.
“So I put the AirTag in the wall, and I plan on pinging it every now and then.
“Not enough that he’ll do something about it. Just once every few weeks late at night when he’s trying to wind down.
“Picturing him freaking out is just funny to me.”
Many Reddit users applauded the tradie’s act of revenge.
“That’s awesome. People like that deserve much worse so kudos for you keeping your cool,” said one.
Added another: “This is awesome. In the old fax days, if someone pissed me off, I’d use a public fax machine and send a fax to their land line.
“Set it to 99 times redial for failed connection, but this is so much more random, I love it.”
But others thought the tradie needed a “thicker skin” and had wasted the Air Tag.
“You just threw away money!” said one.
