Connor McDavid’s wife takes shot at Florida Panthers in Instagram post
The Stanley Cup Final between the Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers is already one for the books, but while the rivalry is strong on the ice, it’s also getting heated off the ice — thanks to Connor McDavid’s wife.
Lauren Kyle McDavid took a thinly veiled shot at the Panthers in her Instagram Stories, Dan Bilicki reported, which was pretty ballsy of her given that the post went up during Game 3 which we all know now the Oilers lost. Badly. A brutal 6-1 spanking.

But the screenshot of a web search result for the Alberta Rat Control Program — an obvious reference to the tradition of Panthers fans throwing plastic versions of the pest onto the ice after home playoff wins — was pretty great.

Sportsnet’s Buck Martinez on Blue Jays’ Bowden Francis: He can’t make another start
After taking some extended scheduled time off, Buck Martinez will be back in his regular analyst role on the Sportsnet broadcasts at the end of the month, just in time for the Blue Jays’ home stand against the Yankees at Rogers Centre.
But that doesn’t mean he hasn’t been paying attention. The longtime Jays broadcaster was blunt in his chat with Rob Longley, specifically what he thinks about the Toronto rotation without Max Scherzer, and the alarming struggles of Bowden Francis.

“I’d be surprised if they start (Francis) again. He’s just too inconsistent,” Martinez told Longley.
“It just highlights how difficult it is to be a long-term starter in the major leagues. It’s the toughest position in baseball, to be a consistent starter,” he continued.
Martinez added that if the struggles of Francis, combined with the bullpen days for the fifth spot in the rotation continue, the rest of the bullpen will wear down.
If the Jays want to continue their hot streak, that’s the last thing they want.

Elizabeth Hurley has made it crystal clear she loves a good bikini shot, but the model went a little further — by posing completely naked as she marked her 60th birthday.

To boot, Hurley also professed her love for new boyfriend Billy Ray Cyrus, Mark Daniell reported.
Cyrus shared a photo of Hurley snuggling on his lap, calling the actress “the love of my life.”
While it may be tough for many to believe these two are an item, what might be more unbelievable is that she is 60. Rock on, girl.

SIMMONS: Wanna bet that Vegas is the landing spot for Mitch Marner?
While many believe Mitch Marner could be heading to the Florida Panthers (if he won’t be playing for the Maple Leafs any longer, that is), Steve Simmons is betting that Toronto’s setup specialist will be calling Las Vegas home as he slots in kind of perfectly with the Golden Knights.
The Knights have a history of going big at acquisition time, plus they have apparently been watching Marner with interest rather closely for years.

And while Marner might never find a better shooter than Auston Matthews, Jack Eichel could be a close match.
But what matters most to Marner, whatever that is, could be a big factor.
Not going to lie, though, it would be weird seeing him in the gold and black.

Man accused of opening fire on thieves stealing his Lamborghini in Vaughan
Four suspects — three adults and one youth — are facing charges while another remains outstanding after car thieves tried to steal a Lamborghini from the driveway of a Vaughan home early Friday.
But perhaps the reason the robbery attempt was unsuccessful was due to a 35-year-old resident who allegedly opened fire on the wannabe thieves.
Now, that man has been charged with discharge of a firearm, possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose, careless storage of a firearm and unauthorized possession of a prohibited/restricted weapon, Jack Boland reported.
York Regional Police said in a statement that they understand the “fear and frustration” such an incident can cause, but cautioned that “discharging a firearm in a residential area is extremely dangerous.”
“You risk hurting innocent people, including neighbours, your own family, or responding officers,” police said. “Taking justice into your own hands is not the answer.”
