Teenager in critical condition after car mounts footpath and traps him under vehicle

A teenager is in a critical condition after being trapped under a vehicle and run over by a car in NSW late Saturday night, and a woman has been arrested.

The 16-year-old was sitting on the back of a Honda motorcycle, believed to be stolen, when it collided with a Nissan SUV on East St, Dubbo, about 11.10pm.

Police said the SUV allegedly mounted a footpath and hit the motorbike, which was riding through a park.

The teenager was trapped under the vehicle, and was freed and treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics.

He suffered serious injuries, and was airlifted to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in critical condition.

The motorcycle rider fled the scene before emergency services arrived.

The 21-year-old woman driving the Nissan was arrested after allegedly attempting to leave the scene.

She was taken to Dubbo Base Hospital for mandatory testing before being transported to Dubbo Police Station.

She was later charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, dangerous driving, and negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.

Her licence has been suspended.

The woman was granted strict conditional bail and will appear before Dubbo Local Court on Monday.

A crime scene was established, and investigations are underway as police work to identify the motorcycle rider.
