Sunrise host Nat Barr suffered through a hilarious moment on Tuesday, as she continued to cover the US election on assignment in Washington DC.
Barr, who has been speaking to key political players in the American capital, was reporting from the White House’s South Lawn, when President Joe Biden’s helicopter Marine One landed.

“He’s about to come out into the White House on the eve of the election — landing on the South Lawn of the White House,” Barr said, her brunette tresses blowing wildly in the wind.
Barr was undeterred by the incident and caught up with Biden to ask him a question.
“It’s really windy, we’re really close. This is about as close as you ever get to the president of the United States. Joe Biden’s right there,” Barr said.
“Mr President, are you sorry you called Trump supporters garbage?”
Barr was referring to Biden’s comments last Tuesday, when he called Trump supporters “garbage” after a comedian at a Trump rally in New York referred to Puerto Rico as “a floating island of garbage”.
However Biden’s description undercut Kamala Harris’ unity message and was seized upon by Trump’s supporters and also by the Republican nominee, who appeared on a garbage truck as a campaign stunt late last week.
Fill-in host Monique Wright asked of Barr’s efforts to get Biden’s attention: “Did he turn around, Nat?”
“No. You know what he did, he sort of put his head down, the other way. Like away from us, I mean, other reporters were calling things out, mine was quite loud — he put his head down, he just headed to the Oval (Office). Ignored me.”
Barr joked with hosts Monique Wright and Matt Shirvington about the moment Biden’s chopper landed.
“Oh, it blew you off your feet, Nat,” Shirvo observed with a laugh.
“Be there when ‘Marine One’ lands, they said, it will be fun, they said,” Wright added.
“That was actually one of the most exciting moments of my life. Cam the cameraman and I were out there, and I couldn’t believe I was there. They let you in, all the hard-pass journos who are here all the time.
“It’s just like another day at the office for them. I was shaking with excitement. You’ve seen this in the movies. You’ve seen this on the news, on news reports around the world.”
But Barr took it all in her stride.
“I was like ‘wow, I’m here!’ My hairpieces just about fell out. It was a bit of a disaster but anyway, I was there,” she said.
