“I had the best dad in the world,” he captioned the tear-jerking video.
“Thinking of him and remembering nothing but fun times.
“I hope you all had a wonderful Father’s Day in the US – sending love to those who couldn’t celebrate with their Dad.”
Steve Irwin died in 2006 after he was pierced in the chest by a stingray; Robert was only three years old.
The video shows Steve, Robert and his older sister Bindi Irwin having fun at Australia Zoo.
In one snippet, Robert gleefully holds a huge lizard; in another, Steve throws Robert up into the air and cuddles him.
In other moments, Steve carries Robert on his shoulders, or they sit on the beach, along with Bindi, watching the sun set.
The video struck a chord with Robert’s 3.9 million followers.
It’s been viewed more than three million times and drew hundreds of comments.
“I was not emotionally prepared for this, tbh,” one follower wrote.
“He was a dad to anyone who didn’t have a father to take them on adventures as a kid,” another wrote, adding that Steve Irwin “taught some of us how to be brave” when encountering wild animals.
“He educated and inspired the hearts of so many,” another said.
“He was truly a global icon, loved by everyone, and you’re doing nothing short of honouring him the best way possible,” one fan wrote.
“Don’t imagine he could be prouder.”
“I know growing up famous must’ve been hard, but how wonderful that you have all these memories recorded,” one mum wrote.
Across on Instagram, Robert shared a different picture of Steve guiding him as he walked along a tree branch.
“I am thinking of my Dad today and everyone out there who might not get to celebrate with theirs,” he wrote.
“It’s so important to me to remember and cherish all the special times.
“Nothing but fun!”
Sister Bindi was clearly touched by the tribute.
“Love you so much,” she wrote.
Robert is uncle to Bindi’s baby, Grace Warrior Powell, who was born on March 25 last year.
He’s clearly smitten, regularly posting photos of special time spent with Grace.
“Can’t believe this little legend is up and walking (with a little help),” he posted on her birthday this year.
“Happy birthday to my favourite little human in the world.
“Love you so much Grace, I’m the luckiest uncle ever!”
