Stefon Diggs signs huge contract with AFC team

Stefon Diggs is officially off the market, and the star wide receiver will now be catching passes for one of his former rivals.

Diggs agreed to a three-year, $69 million contract with the New England Patriots on Tuesday, according to multiple reports. The veteran wideout will receive $26 million guaranteed.

Diggs visited with the Patriots on Wednesday and Thursday. The meeting was said to have gone well, and the contract agreement reflects that.

The 31-year-old Diggs underwent testing in New England to see how he is progressing in his recovery from a torn ACL. There have been reports that he is running at full speed and able to make cuts, which is encouraging since he is just five months removed from suffering the injury.

The Buffalo Bills traded Diggs to the Houston Texans last offseason. Diggs was having a productive year with 47 catches for 496 yards and three touchdowns through eight games before he tore his ACL.

Diggs spent four seasons in Buffalo and made the Pro Bowl in each one of them. He did much of his damage while playing against the Patriots, so there is plenty of familiarity with him in New England.

The Patriots have had a desperate need for a top wideout to help Drake Maye as the former North Carolina star heads into his second NFL season. If Diggs comes back fully healthy from his knee injury, he should be able to provide a huge spark in New England’s passing offense.
