Mentally disturbed man enters Sulur Air Force Base in Coimbatore, caught by guards and handed over to police – Tamil Nadu News

An unidentified man mysteriously entered the Sulur Air Force Base in Tamil Nadu, but was caught by alert security personnel and handed over to the Sulur police.

According to sources, the man reportedly entered the high-security area around 7 pm on Wednesday. Air Force guards on duty quickly apprehended him and handed him over to the police for further questioning.

Police officials said the man appeared mentally disturbed and did not respond to any enquiries by Air Force personnel for nearly a day. “It looks like he is from Bihar. We have filed a CSR (community service register). He is not responding to Hindi. We’re now trying to communicate through someone familiar with the Bihari dialect,” said an officer involved in the investigation.

Further inquiry is underway to determine how the man managed to enter the restricted zone.

In the wake of India’s military attack, code named Operation Sindoor, on Pakistan’s terror camps followed by strikes on various air bases in the rival country, this breach takes significance.

The Sulur air base incident comes just days after a man was arrested in Punjab for impersonating an Indian Air Force officer by wearing a stolen uniform. The man was a resident of Zirakpur, a satellite city of Mohali district.
