The achievement comes nearly 17 years after the car’s debut in 2008, cementing its place as a key aspect of Maruti Suzuki’s lineup.
The Dzire, which reached its first million-unit milestone in 2015 and doubled that figure by 2019, remains a dominant player in the sedan market. Its continued success highlights the strong demand for affordable and fuel-efficient sedans in India, even as SUVs dominate the broader market.
The milestone comes shortly after the launch of the fourth-generation Dzire in November 2024. The latest version introduces updated styling, modernized interiors, and new features aimed at keeping pace with customer expectations and market trends. The Dzire has also found favor overseas, with approximately 260,000 units exported to 48 countries since shipments began in 2008. Key export markets include Latin America, Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.
In the last financial year, it was Maruti Suzuki’s second-highest exported model, underscoring its global appeal.
The Dzire is one of only a few Maruti Suzuki models to surpass the 3 million production mark, joining the likes of the Alto, Swift, and WagonR.
Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited expressed gratitude to Maruti’s customers for their trust, which helped company to achieve the milestone.
“Over the years, Dzire has significantly contributed to our sales, making us the sedan segment leader for 16 consecutive years*. I also extend my heartfelt gratitude to our dedicated team members and value chain partners for their hard work and commitment,” he added.
