One man in his 40s was taken to St George Hospital, and three other patients were treated for minor injuries at the scene, NSW Ambulance said.

Southbound traffic is blocked, and motorists are being diverted onto Campbelltown Rd, where they can use Moore Oxley St and Narellan Rd to return to the Hume Mwy, according to Live Traffic NSW.

A truck and trailer were well alight when emergency services arrived, and a number of firefighting units have since “knocked down” the fire.

However Fire and Rescue NSW superintendent Adam Dewberry said the fire “does continue to burn”.

He said firefighters were called to a truck fire which “evolved” into a two-vehicle crash.

He said the motorway is expected to be blocked for some time.

Motorists are urged to allow extra travel time, Live Traffic NSW said.
