The Liberal National Party has endorsed former soldier Kyle McMillen as its new candidate for the Queensland seat of Oxley, a day after former LNP candidate Chris Green resigned.

The reasons behind Mr Green’s resignation remain unknown. His campaign Facebook page and website have been taken down.

Mr McMillen is a military veteran who works for defence firm Rheinmetall.

He is running in Oxley against Labor MP Milton Dick, who holds the seat with a margin of 6.4 per cent.

Mr McMillen says he is honoured to be a strong voice for the LNP and that Oxley deserves representation that will continue to build a strong economy.

“As a veterans’ inclusion specialist, I understand how important it is for people of all ages to have the opportunity of secure, long-term employment,” Mr McMillen said.

“That is why I will be campaigning to continue delivering the LNP’s local economic plan to support small businesses and create more local jobs.”

He says he will work hard to support local families with cost-of-living pressures and to improve local roads.

“As a former soldier I also know the importance of protecting our families and way of life,” Mr McMillen said.
