The anonymous accuser — identified as “Jane Doe,” according to NBC News — said in the lawsuit refiled Sunday that the alleged incident involving Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, happened in 2000 at an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty in New York City area.
The federal lawsuit was filed in October in the Southern District of New York. It originally listed Combs as a defendant before being refiled Sunday to include Carter, ABC News reported.
Tony Buzbee, the attorney who filed the lawsuit, did not provide a comment to NBC News.

In a statement to NBC News, Carter called the allegations “so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one.

“Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree?” Carter said in the statement.
“These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case.”
The lawsuit is one of several filed by Buzbee over the last few months accusing Combs of assault and rape. All of the suits have withheld the complainants’ names, although this was the first one to include another high-profile name, NBC News reported.

Combs’s representatives called the lawsuits “shameless publicity stunts designed to extract payments from celebrities who fear having lies spread about them, just as lies have been spread about Mr. Combs.
“As his legal team has said before, Mr. Combs has full confidence in the facts and the integrity of the judicial process,” the statement to NBC News said. “In court, the truth will prevail: That Mr. Combs never sexually assaulted or trafficked anyone — man or woman, adult or minor.”
Combs was criminally charged in September on racketeering, sex-trafficking and other offences and is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in New York City after his bail was repeatedly denied.
His trial is scheduled for May 5.
The updated lawsuit accuses Combs and Carter of raping “Jane Doe” at a house party after the MTV Video Music Awards, which was held at Radio City Musical Hall in New York. She is seeking unspecified damages under New York’s Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Act, NBC News reported.
