“Our current situation makes it incredibly difficult for us to secure somewhere to stay long term. One of the lads is still back home in Northern Ireland, so we’re trying to secure a three bed flat with only two people and honestly its just proven to be impossible.”

The travellers found temporary work in Sydney doing general labour which they described as “donkey work”.

Instead of staying on in Australia Mr Morris and his mate are heading over to Bali for two weeks to try and save some money.

Australia has not lived up to expectations for the Irish tourist as he added he’s been unhappy with the Sydney weather, saying it rained most of the days they were in Australia.

“I thought I was gonna come here to sunshine every single day but I suppose it is still spring,” Mr Morris said.

Commenters suggested the traveller picked the wrong state and city in Australia and said he should have gone somewhere less expensive.

Many users thought WA was the best option.

“Sydney is crazy man come to wa will probably be easier,” one man wrote.

Another Aussie added: “Perth has evolved so much since we came 11yrs ago – amazing work life balance!”

“You should have come to Perth !!” a third woman said.
