How to Do Heart Shaped Knotless Braids in 2022
IDK about you, but I am very much into the whole beaded braid movement for summer 2022. Like, I’ve been seeing beaded braid styles ev-er-y-where lately—including this week’s episode of The Braid Up—and I just can’t get enough. New York-based hairstylist Shateeka Garrison styled these lovely heart-shaped knotless braids with beads, and the design is just so aesthetically pleasing it’s ridiculous. BRB while I run to my stylist and have them recreate this look for me for MDW.

Ready to give this style a try? Don’t forget to check out these four tips to make it your own, below.
1. Blow dry your hair first. Before you do any braiding, wash your hair, apply a heat protectant spray or cream from roots to tips, and then blow dry your hair section by section. Prepping your hair this way will make the braided process a whole lot easier.
2. Use a clarifying shampoo on wash day. Remember how I said this style is best done on just-washed hair? It’s even better if you wash with a clarifying shampoo. Doing so will get rid of any build-up or residue on your hair and scalp and help your braids look fresher for longer.
3. Give your scalp some love. Dryness on your scalp is exactly what this style *doesn’t* need. Invest in a good scalp scrub to nix flakes and a good scalp treatment with hydrating and nourishing ingredients to keep your skin healthy and balanced How can you tackle it?
4. Know when it’s time to switch things up. I know it’s tempting to keep these braids in forever, but allowing a style to overstay its welcome can actually do some real damage to your hair. As a rule, you should take these braids out after about six weeks and move on to a new style.
