West Coast Eagles young gun Harley Reid has been handed a two-week suspension for his dangerous sling tackle of St Kilda’s Darcy Wilson.
It means the 19-year-old, who was a red-hot chance of being crowned the 2024 Rising Star, is now officially ineligible to win the award.
A frustrated Reid slung Wilson into the Optus Stadium turf during West Coast’s 14-point loss to the Saints on Saturday afternoon.

The act has been deemed as careless conduct, high impact and high contact.
He is unable to take an early plea, meaning if he wants to fight the ban, he must sit at the tribunal.
At the time, it cost Reid a free kick, but has now cost him a likely win on a bigger scale.
Reid was starring in the first half for West Coast, collecting 17 disposals and seven clearances.
That was before St Kilda coach Ross Lyon ran Marcus Winghager as a tag in the second half.
After half time, a clearly frustrated Reid was held to just three touches.
Meantime, Wilson was cleared to return to play in the final term, as he helped St Kilda to their fourth win of the season.
