Gold Logie nominee Sonia Kruger drops major red carpet hint and go-to beauty tips

The queen of Australian TV Sonia Kruger is gearing up to deliver another showstopping red-carpet look for the upcoming Logie Awards.

Kruger, nominated for both Gold and Silver Logie Awards, admits that while the awards appear all glitz and glamour, she was “never comfortable” in her showstopping looks.

In 2022 she turned heads with a dress made from feathers — which surely should be comfortable?

“But no,” Kruger tells 7NEWS.com.au, “The other end of those feathers, it’s like a quill.

“It’s like a needle, it was torture,” she says with a laugh.

While she looks spectacular in her various red carpet outfits, the TV host reveals: “By the end of the night, you really can’t wait to get (the outfit) off”.

Kruger had a glittering competitive dancing career, acted in Baz Luhrmann’s hit film Strictly Ballroom, and has had a long and successful career as a glamorous prime-time TV host.

Now, for the second year running, she is hosting the red carpet from what she calls the “box seats” alongside Dancing With The Stars co-host Dr Chris Brown.

“Essentially, we have the best seats in the house, and we get to see absolutely everyone,” she says.

“For me, part of the joy of that is catching up with friends, but also just seeing what everybody is wearing.”

Teasing her outfit for 2024, The Voice host says that while she intended to just have one dress this year, it looks like there will be a mid-event wardrobe change.

“Last year, I got changed into this beautiful rainbow dress,” she recalls.

“While it was brilliant because I got to wear these two amazing Australian designers, it was very tight for time, and it was a little bit stressful to make that change and to get inside after the red carpet, before the ceremony.”

Kruger says that after the stress of the outfit change, for future events she wished to stick to one look.

“But of course, what’s happened is that the dress for the red carpet is so stunning and so beautiful, but it’s quite difficult to move around in.

“It’s quite long, it has drapey sleeves, so I feel like I’m going to have to get changed again.”

One person who is very excited about Kruger’s return to the Logies red carpet is her nine-year-old daughter Maggie.

“She wants to come along and be there. I think there might be an age limit … so I’m pretty sure that’s not going to happen this year.

“She’s at that age where she started to get really interested in fashion and makeup.”

Preparing for the big day, Kruger says her go-to products are the Three Warriors tans, exfoliation and radiant complexion serum.

“I like to tan to even out my skin tone. I’m naturally quite a tanned person anyway,” she shares.

“But I like to even everything out and that for me is more important than going three shades darker.”

Kruger says that while each year’s show has been different, the one thing she consistently does is to spend time outdoors in the morning.

“I do try to get out in the morning for a walk, just to get a bit of fresh air, because then you are inside for a very long time,” the Gold Logie winner says.

“I’m a bit of a nature lover, and I like to connect with nature before we go into that artificial environment.”

Since attending her first Logies in 2002, the TV star says that “every year has been kind of different”.

“Back in the early days, I’d get so excited I would go out with everybody the night before the Logies and then would peak too early.

“Then I’d end up being at the Logies feeling a bit shabby.

“I see new people coming through their very first time and you sort of want to go, ‘Oh yeah, I remember what that was like’.”
