Hours after Karnataka’s former Director General of Police (DGP) Om Prakash was murdered, News18 exclusively accessed a copy of the First Information Report filed in the case.
The FIR was submitted by Om Prakash’s son Karthikesh, who alleged he suspected his mother and sister had killed his father.
He also claimed he had found a smashed bottle and a knife next to the body of his father.
“My mother and sister were suffering from depression and fought with our father every day,” Karthikesh alleged.
“My father was being threatened with death for the past week, after which he went to stay with my sister Sarita Kumari at her house,” he stated.
Later, the complainant’s sister requested Om Prakash to return to his home, the FIR stated, adding that the former DGP had returned to his home on April 18.
Karthikesh further claimed that he was away when he received a call from one of his neighbours that his father’s body was found in a pool of blood.
“I came around 05.45 pm and saw that the policemen and members of the public had gathered around my house, and there was blood around my father’s body and head,” he alleged.
Om Prakash’s body was taken to St. John’s Hospital for further investigations into his death.
The police have detained ex-DGP’s wife Pallavi as she emerged as a key suspect in the murder case. Along with her, their daughter Kriti has also been detained.
Prakash, a 1981 batch IPS officer hailing from Bihar, was found dead in a pool of blood in the ground floor of his three-storeyed house in the posh HSR Layout in the city on Sunday.
The 68-year-old retired IPS officer was a native of Champaran, Bihar, and held a Master’s degree in Geology.
Prakash was appointed Director General of Police on March 1, 2015.
