Crossed all acceptable limits: Congress issues show cause notice to Laxman Singh

The Indian National Congress has issued a show-cause notice to senior party leader Laxman Singh for making public statements that have caused “serious damage to the image and integrity” of the party.

The notice said that Laxman Singh’s statements “crossed all acceptable limits, particularly the derogatory and disrespectful remarks directed at senior party leadership, including the Hon’ble Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Shri Rahul Gandhi Ji.”

The former MLA and brother of Digvijay Singh, has said that Omar Abdullah is complicit with terrorists and added that Rahul Gandhi and Robert Vadra should mind words before making public statements about Pahalgam.

The show-cause notice was issued following a complaint received from MPCC President Jitu Patwari, and MPCC MLA & In-charge Harish Chaudhary regarding Laxman Singh’s repeated public statements.

The notice directed the ex-MLA to submit a written explanation within 10 days.

“Failing to respond within the stipulated time will lead to the presumption that you have nothing to state in your defence, and the party will proceed with appropriate disciplinary action as per established rules and guidelines,” the notice concluded.
