A popular condiment sold nationwide has been recalled over salmonella fears.

Ceres Organics organic hulled and unhulled tahini 300g has been recalled due to it potentially being contaminated by the bacteria.

The products have been available for sale at Woolworths in NSW, independent food retailers in NSW and Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia, Queensland and ACT, and online nationally.

Best before dates of the affected products include May 25, 2023; August 22, 2023; and August 1, 2024 for the hulled tahini and May 25, 2023 and August 22, 2023 for the unhulled.

Food products contaminated with salmonella may make someone sick if consumed.

“Consumers should not eat this product,” Food Standards Australia New Zealand warned.

Salmonella symptoms include diarrhoea, fever and stomach cramps and can come on six hours to six days after infection.

Recalled stock can be returned to the place of purchase for a full refund.
