MANILA, Philippines–Akari swept Capital1, 25-9, 25-17, 26-24 for back-to-back wins in the PVL All-Filipino Conference on Saturday at PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.
Ivy Lacsina provided enough supply on offense with a game-best 15 points, all from attacks, while Eli Soyud was a solid backup with 12 points for the Chargers, who improved to 5-4.

“This is going to be a long conference and we are still in the elimination games so we at least have a chance to challenge for a different system,” Akari coach Taka Minowa said. “I want to challenge during the game, not only during the practice because that’s what we do in practice also.”

“Capital1 is very good. Fighting spirit is [there] even after the first set, 25-9, that’s why we also needed to run from them,” he added.

The Chargers had their way against the Solar Spikers in the first two sets and early in the final frame before Capital1 made it interesting midway through the fourth set when it went on a 6-0 spurt to take the lead, 13-10.
Lacsina took matters into her own hands to help Akari regain control with four consecutive points.
“Yung naging motivation ko is yung teammates ko and sila coach kasi may mga nai-injury sa amin na teammates so kami-kami na lang rin yung nandito kaya every game lagi namin gugustuhin manalo,” Ivy Lacsina said.

It was a back-and-forth action from there with the Solar Spikers even moving to set point. But Lacsina launched a quick attack, Iris Tolenada was caught reaching beyond the net before a solid block by Fifi Sharma on Trisha Genesis put the Chargers in the driver’s seat, 25-24. Faith Nisperos wrapped it up for Akari with a kill.
Justine Jazareno also shone for Akari with 16 excellent digs while Kamille Cal tossed in 14 excellent sets.
Genesis was the lone bright spot for the Solar Spikers, who only had one win to show after nine games, with 14 points while Rica Rivera had 11 excellent digs.
Akari goes for three in a row next Saturday against Choco Mucho while Capital1 tries to end the four-game skid on Thursday against Cignal, which is facing Creamline as of posting time.
