DRDO successfully tests Long Range Land Attack Cruise Missile off Odisha’s coast

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) conducted the maiden flight-test of the Long Range Land Attack Cruise Missile (LRLACM) from Integrated Test Range (ITR) off Odisha’s Chandipur on Tuesday.

The missile was launched from a mobile articulated launcher. During the test, all sub-systems performed as per expectations and met the primary mission objectives.

The missile was monitored by several range sensors like Radar and Electro Optical Tracking System deployed by ITR at different locations to ensure complete coverage of the flight path.

The missile followed the desired path using way point navigation and demonstrated its capability to perform various manoeuvres while flying at various altitudes and speeds. The missile is equipped with advanced avionics and software to ensure better and reliable performance.

The Long Range Land Attack Cruise Missile is developed by Bengaluru-based Aeronautical Development Establishment along with contributions from other DRDO laboratories and other industries.

Hyderabad-based Bharat Dynamics Limited and Bengaluru-based Bharat Electronics Limited are the two Development-Cum-Production-Partners for the missile and are engaged in its development and integration.

The test was witnessed by senior scientists from various DRDO laboratories along with representatives from all three military services.

The Long Range Land Attack Cruise Missile is a Defence Acquisition Council-approved, Acceptance of Necessity-sanctioned, Mission Mode Project and can be launched from the ground using a mobile articulated launcher and also from frontline ships using a universal vertical launch module system.
