Average income for each Aussie age group revealed in new data

Men aged 35 to 54 are Australia’s highest earners with an average salary of $103,955, according to Canstar data.

Close behind are men aged 45 to 54, who bring home an average salary of $101,400.

Meanwhile, women in the same age brackets take home just $83,200 and $85,800 on average respectively — or a difference of $20,755 and $15,600.

Australia’s lowest earners are aged 15 to 24, although females earn more than their male counterparts in this group.

Male workers aged 15 to 19 make an average salary of $40,144, while men aged 20 to 24 earn an average $61,234.

Women in the same age brackets earn $42,540 and $62,098 on average respectively — or a difference in their favour of $2396 and $864.

In the 25 to 34 age bracket, men earn $83,200 on average which is $5200 more in their pockets on average than women the same age, who earn $78,000 in comparison.

Women’s average salaries do not catch up to their male counterparts again, according to Canstar’s report.
