Samantha Armytage has revealed she recently underwent hip surgery after developing “severe” osteoarthritis.
The Farmer Wants a Wife host and former Sunrise star says she has been recovering after a total hip replacement a few weeks ago at St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney.
Armytage said an active childhood and a skiing accident 30 years ago had taken a toll on her right hip.

“I’d torn all the cartilage out,” she wrote on Instagram.
“It was bone-on-bone and then became full of severe osteoarthritis.”
The 47-year-old said she was proud of how well her body had healed after the surgery.
She thanked family and friends for their support as well as the medical team who looked after her.
“I’m now truly bionic and my nearest and dearest are pleased to not have to watch me limp around in pain anymore,” Armytage said.
“Huge thanks to the wonderful nurses (at St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney) for the care, a lil’ bit of Endone … heaps of rehab and all my beautiful friends for my flower-filled room!”
Commenting on a series of pictures that Armytage posted of herself in hospital, former Seven colleague and current The Morning Show host Kylie Gillies offered her own words of support.
“I think this deserves a new pair of Jimmy Choos just to kick up those old heels and new hip! Glad to hear it’s gone well,” Kylie wrote.
Singer, radio star and Australian Idol host Ricki-Lee Coulter said: “You’ll be dancing in no time. Sending you love.”
Last month, Farmer Wants a Wife was nominated for Best Structured Reality Program at the 64th TV Week Logie Awards.
At the time, Armytage said she was “thrilled” with the nomination, alongside Seven’s SAS Australia.
