Of all the celebrities who have a signature hairstyle, Gabrielle Union is not one of them. I know that when she pops up in my Instagram feed, there’s a damn good chance that her hairstyle will look nothing like the hairstyle in her previous post, other than perhaps the color. Just this week alone, as she’s been attending a variety of star-studded events, she’s served up several vastly different looks. That rose bun she wore to the Tiffany & Co. party? To die for. And now, she’s letting it (almost) all hang loose.
Union attended the New York premiere of The Idea of You — the Anne Hathaway-led movie she produced — on Monday, April 29, wearing a black, sleeveless, floor-length Sportmax ensemble, and her hair practically echoed the feel of that sleek-yet-textured, flowy-yet-subdued style.
Her go-to stylist and Flawless partner Larry Sims created the half-up hairstyle, which starts with a smooth, taut crown. The ponytail that starts high on the back of her head is wrapped in hair for a seamless look, and like the loose section, it’s packed with texture, movement, and volume — a complete departure from the top of her head.
And to really add to the drama, that gorgeous texture stretches well past Union’s waist, fanning out a bit at the ends like a skirt.
