By Pramod Madhav: Six people, including a nine-year-old girl, were killed in a head-on collision between a car and a truck near Tamil Nadu’s Thiruvasi in the early hours of Sunday.
Three people injured in the road accident were taken to Trichy Government hospital for treatment.
“Six people including one child and a woman were killed, whereas three were injured after a van collided with a lorry on Trichy-Salem NH near Tiruvasi in Trichy District in the early hours. All the injured shifted to Trichy govt hospital and dead bodies sent for autopsy,” Sujith Kumar, SP, Trichy was quoted by ANI as saying.
The accident happened when an Omni van carrying nine people was on its way to Kumbakonam for a temple visit from Edapadi. When the vehicle was crossing Thiruvasi, a truck carrying wooden logs traveling from Trichy to Karur collided with the truck around 3.50am in the wee hours of Sunday.
On receiving the information, police reached the spot and launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.
